Clinton and Obama

Daria Roithmayr, USC Gould School of Law professor and an expert on race and gender, can discuss the outcome of the Pennsylvania primary. She can assess the strengths and weaknesses of Obama and Clinton and their bids for the nomination. Roithmayr worked for Edward Kennedy and has worked as a strategist and research specialist on several congressional campaigns. She can discuss general strategic strengths and challenges for the campaigns, and can comment on how issues of race and gender are playing with regard to each. Note: Roithmayr became acquainted with Obama during his Senate race. Obama often visited the University of Illinois College of Law, where Roithmayr was formerly a professor.

Kareem Crayton, USC Gould School professor of law and politics, can discuss Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s nomination bids. Crayton’s research examines the role that race plays in electoral politics and political representation. He can tackle the likelihood of the candidates winning the party nomination and their ability to compete in the general election. Additionally, he can analyze the candidates’ appeal to specific segments of the electorate and their political strategies to target various interest groups. A specialist in Southern politics, Crayton can also discuss how the two candidates will fare in the North Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky primaries.
